  • Tandem Accident in Sedgefield

    On 7 March 2020 at mid-day, an experienced instructor and member of the national team, had an unfortunate tandem paragliding accident at Sedgefield site landing area.

    Both pilot and her passenger are stable. They both have pelvic injuries which will recover with bed rest. They were taken to Life Hospital Knysna. Thanks to ER24 emergency services, who were on the scene with 30 min.

    It must be stressed that paragliding remains essentially a very safe sport but as in all adventurous activities accidents can happen.

  • Fatal Accident on 22 January 2020

    The South Africa Hang-Gliding and Paragliding Association (SAHPA) deeply regrets to convey that an Austrian paragliding pilot was involved in a fatal accident at Langebaan yesterday.

    The exact cause of the accident has yet to be determined. A case has been opened with SAPS, and SAHPA will investigate in conjunction with IAAD of the SACAA. Further information on the AIID process.
