Following the earlier notice on the governance rewrite, SAHPA has now published the full Governance Documentation Pack for member review.
This is not a cosmetic update. It is a structural overhaul of how SAHPA governs itself, how oversight is exercised under Part 149, and how rules, procedures, and policies fit together in a coherent and legally defensible framework.
Members are strongly encouraged to read these documents and provide informed, constructive feedback.
What this documentation set does
The updated framework:
- clarifies authority, roles, and limits within SAHPA;
- separates binding rules from procedures and guidance;
- aligns SAHPA documentation with company law, administrative fairness principles, and Part 149 expectations;
- removes historical ambiguity and undocumented custom.
This is about governance integrity, not bureaucracy.

How to submit comments
Members are invited to submit comments in writing so that they can be properly tracked, assessed, and responded to.
Comments should be sent to:
Please:
- reference the specific document and clause number where possible;
- focus on substance, clarity, and governance impact;
- avoid WhatsApp or informal channels, as comments submitted there cannot be reliably captured or responded to.
Discussion within clubs and on Whatsapp communities is encouraged, but only comments formally submitted to board@sahpa.co.za will be considered as part of the review process.
This documentation framework will define how SAHPA operates for years to come. It is therefore vital that SAHPA members participate in this documentation review.
