Kleinkrantz

An area of sand-dunes used for flying training, with the 7km ‘Paradise ridge’ bordering it to the east, offering hours of non-stop smooth soaring.

  • Watch the sea for incoming gust fronts. Land immediately and wait it out.

Launch

Beside the carpark is a small launch site. Soar left, work the first small ridge before crossing the training dune and heading for Paradise Ridge. If you find the first site too small, walk down to the beach, and along at the water’s edge until you see the clear area of the main training dune.

Please do not launch from the top launch. This site is ecologically sensitive, and SAHPA are working with both the landowner and SANParks to find was to control and mitigate against further degradation of this site.

Directions

N2 E from Wilderness. 5km past Wilderness, turn right to Kleinkrantz. Turn right at the first four-way intersection and drive on to the end of the coast road. Park and take the path into the bushes on your left for 50m to the takeoff site.
